Strelitzia is mainly based on seed reproduction, and can also be propagated by ramets. Strelitzia reginae is a typical avian plant that is pollinated by hummingbirds in the country of origin. Under general cultivation conditions in China, it is necessary to manually assist pollination in order to seed. Seeds mature after 3-4 months of pollination, and there are about 20 seeds in each capsule, which should be followed by sowing.

The substrate for sowing can be finely pulverized with coarse peat 1:1 or peat plus perlite 1: 1. The germination temperature is 25 °C. After about 1 month of sowing, the germination begins. The seedlings are basically out in about 2 months. The seedlings need to be kept warm for wintering and shading for summer. When the leaves are 2 to 3 pieces, they can be transplanted. Seedlings are seeded and usually bloom after 3 years.

The ramets are easier to breed. After the temperature rises in spring every year, the dense stalks are separated by a knife, and the incisions are coated with charcoal powder or ash. To prevent rot, pay attention not to damage the root system, keep 2-3 roots per small clump, cut off the leaves properly, and water the shade after planting. If properly managed, it will bloom in the next year.
